What is Better At Home?
Better At Home is a provincial program funded by the Government of British Columbia and administered by the United Way of the Lower Mainland. It is delivered locally by non-profit organizations to help seniors aged 65 and older with simple, day-to-day tasks — so they can continue living safely and comfortably in their own homes.
Services We Offer
Better At Home provides a range of non-medical home support services tailored to what seniors need most.
Light Housekeeping
Subsidized housekeeping with vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and general tidying to keep your home clean and safe.
Grocery Shopping
Assistance picking up groceries and essential items so you always have what you need at home.
Transportation
HandyDart support
Volunteer Visits & Social Events
Trained volunteers visit regularly and organize social events to reduce isolation and keep you connected to your community.
Yard Maintenance
Seasonal yard work including lawn mowing, leaf raking, and snow shovelling.
Laundry
Help with washing, drying, and folding laundry so you can focus on what matters most.
Meals at Home Program
Our Meals at Home program provides nutritious, subsidized meals delivered weekly to eligible clients, supporting healthy, independent living at home.

Who Can Access Better At Home?
Better At Home is designed for seniors who need a little extra help to remain in their own homes. Services are provided on a sliding-scale fee basis — no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
- Age 60 or older (exceptions may apply)
- Living in the Fort St. John or Peace Region area
- Able to live independently with some support
- Not already receiving equivalent services through other programs
- Fees are based on ability to pay — no one is turned away
