The North Peace Seniors Housing Society is a charitable, non-profit housing society that has been providing affordable housing and support services for the senior citizens of Fort St. John and area since 1966.
The Society currently owns and manages four buildings containing 144 self-contained units, 100 of which are apartments for low and moderate income seniors. The remaining 44 are supportive living units for seniors, which include 2 meals per day, 7 days a week. Our facilities are North Peace Seniors Housing Apartments 1, 2, 3 & 4.
There is a 60 year age restriction for tenants, which helps ensure a sense of community and security. Our buildings are not government subsidized or government operated. Seniors who are eligible may apply for a tax free rental subsidy; SAFER (Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters). Application forms for this subsidy are available below.
We partner with many other organizations in order to provide help to our seniors. The Better At Home Program provides local seniors with light housekeeping services, laundry services, wellness checks, hygiene support and emergency COVID supports in order to enjoy their independence longer. Better At Home is funded by the United Way of BC and generous donors, so services are subsidized to be affordable.
Are you passionate about what we're doing? Let us know! We are always looking for volunteers to help us make our vision a reality. We'll help you find a way to volunteer that best suits you. We're excited to have you join the team!
Whether you help through monetary donations, volunteering your time, or spreading our mission through word-of-mouth, thank you. We couldn't accomplish our goals without the help of supporters like you.
